My Teaching Philosophy

A teacher's responsibility is to pass on knowledge, that has been gained by experience, to the student who is seeking a similar path. This should be done with encouragement, understanding, love, and respect for the student. Another responsibility of the teacher is to lead by example and to rely on others for help when they are at their limit. To ensure the student’s success, the teacher needs to continue to sharpen their craft, find new ways to convey their knowledge and experiences, and practice humility. The student will succeed when the teacher treats the relationship with the utmost care and respect.

What I Offer

Private in-person or online, thirty minute or one hour lessons that focus on fundamentals, technique, music theory and history, and musicianship. In our first lesson, we will establish goals like earning a chair in an honor band or preparing for a college audition.
